22nd Family Day (May 29)

How time flies so fast? We started out with our very first at the beginning of the year and now we're nearly halfway towards the end of the year. It makes me want to look back over and over again through all the albums that I've diligently compiled. Nothing compares to the real joy one can find from simple gatherings such as this. Every single photo has a lot of stories to tell that will surely remain both in our hearts and in our minds.

I am proud to say that we haven't missed any Sunday since the year 2011 commenced. But unfortunately, we might have to in the next few weeks, as Hubby and I will be going home to our families in the Philippines for a five-week holiday.

Without a doubt, this has been a part of my life. It has drawn all of us closer to one another. And that alone gives us a deeper meaning of happiness.

21st Family Day (May 22)

Another event that was fun-filled and memorable. For the second time now, we've been having the WOW karaoke in the house and I must say, that it really spiced up our mood for some singing along moments. We all share the same passion for singing... Yes, I did put a period on that note to emphasize that when it comes to dancing, I'm hopeless...

If last week's repertoire was more on dance-flavored songs, this time around, we opted for some easy listening ballads. It's about time we develop our vocal chords and belting prowess... Now, that was a joke.

We may not be good singers, but surely, this whole experience has given us another reason to celebrate and embrace life to the fullest.

20th Family Day (May 15)

For a change, we incorporated a little bit singing and dancing into our gathering last Sunday. With the help of WOW karaoke (courtesy of Kumare Geraldine), our vocal chords, which had gotten out of tune for sometime, have been revived. How I just love singing and I guess, everyone else does.

It was also a fun experience to swing those hips and get those feet into dancing. Although, not for me, apparently... I'd rather just sing all night than move my stiff hips haha.

We had such a great leisure time and somehow, it has brought a relaxing feeling to end a week-long of working and at the same time, it gave us the anticipation to face the beginning of a new week with a smile...

Project: Second boobies cake (in corset)

Boobies cake in corset

Julie, a friend of Marlyn, ordered this cake for a 21st birthday celebration.  She has seen the first boobies cake that I made which quite obviously impressed her. As a matter of fact, she was willing to pay for it but I refused the offer. Instead I just asked her to buy me main ingredients like sugar, marshmallows, butter. Guess that's better that way.

Doing it for the second time felt like the first time again. Shaping the boobies has always been the hardest part, next to covering it with rolled fondant. If I had the right baking pans it would have been easier to smoothen.

The corset's design was first used by my sister for one of her cakes. She did it so nicely and creatively. Thought I might just do something similar with a bit of distinction. Now to make mine slightly different from hers, I changed the original color of the corset from black to fuchsia to make it look more attractive. And I also used yellow where red details were required.

19th Family Day (May 8)

Our recent Sunday affair was held with more meaningful reason to spend the very essence of our so-called "Family Day", which is to take time to nurture relationships that would emphasize family values. Along with the celebration of Mother's Day, we shared our own little tribute to the wonderful moms within our group.

We started out with gift-giving. Simple treats for my lovely kumares who are truly exceptional in their craft as moms. I wasn't even expecting to get any but I still did. Then, after that, we had an early dinner feast, followed by some sweets and coffee.

It may seem like a routine doing the same old stuff every Sunday, but nothing compares to the real happiness and immeasurable joy that we have even for a day.

Moving House Dinner for Lulette (April 30)

As the title implies, this album is dedicated to the lady we call "Bosing", out of respect since she was the owner of our previous house in Abercorn, where our husbands had had stayed for the last 4 years or so. For over a year now, she's been living in Perth. Just recently, she's decided to put the house off in the market to sell.

We had a lite dinner at her house in Grevilla, then afterwards, we helped her pack up all the things she's taking with her to Perth. Most of the stuff she gave away to us. It was like a typical scenario in a weekend garage sale.

Through this post, we would like to thank her from the bottom of our hearts for everything that she has shared to all of us and we hope that this won't be the end of the road. We'll surely catch up with her again.

Monica's Birthday Dinner (May 5)

She's the eldest daughter of our lovely kumare.

As she turned 19, last Wednesday, we were there to celebrate and wish her more wonderful birthdays to come. The food was superb. I love the pork barbecue and the fried rice.

18th Family Day (May 1)

Another drizzly and chilly afternoon. Too lazy to think of anything to bring so we ended up making some freshly sliced cucumber in vinegar and garlic juice.

Our usual venue looked totally different, like it has undergone renovation, with the addition of nice display pieces and floral decorations. And they were all featured in this album.

Chocolate cake with Oreo minis

I was at the Plaza waiting for Hubby to pick me up, when Marlyn and her other friends greeted me.  I've known her through Jericho.  She used to come over when we were still living in Abercorn.  And so I stopped for a while to say hi and hello.  After a few moments of that short conversation, they started asking me about my cakes post on Facebook.  Questions like: what sort of cakes can I make?  How much if they would want to order?  Where did I learn making cakes?  And the silly question I often get from people, "did you really make those cakes?" *laughs*

To make the story short, Marlyn asked me if could make one for her for the coming weekend.  She wanted to have a taste of my cake.  I said yes, without any second thought.  No cost, no ingredients involved.  We agreed on one thing though, if she likes it, (I hope she does), she'll order the next one, not free of charge anymore.

I'd like to call it, triple temptation.  The cake is moist chocolate; both the filling and frosting are made from chocolate butter cream plus oreo mini cookies are chocolate with vanilla filling.

It looked literally so tempting!

17th Family Day at the Park (April 26)

For once, our usual Sunday gathering was moved temporarily to a weekday to give way for Mhine's birthday dinner which was held last Sunday. Another reason has something to do with the fact that Easter break ends on Tuesday and everyone will be going back to work the following day. And to mark the day red, we thought of spending the whole day at the park just like what we do every Sunday.

That morning, the whole town of Albany was hovered by a thick fog. It was such a disappointing sight to wake up to. The sun will soon come out. I was so certain about it. Slowly I could see the rays of the sun breaking through the clouds...
